First Holy Communion

Each year, the children in our parish are invited to join the First Holy Communion preparation programme.  This is a very important stage in their spiritual journey when they prepare to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Many of the children will be in Year 3, although older children are also welcome to join the programme. 

The programme starts towards the end of September with the children receiving Eucharist in June the following year. Parents who wish their children to prepare for First Holy Communion must book an appointment through the parish office to meet with Fr Gaston.

For families that have been accepted into this year's program, there will be an information evening for Parents/guardians and children on Friday, October 11th, at 6 p.m. in church. At least one parent or guardian and all the children must attend. Failure to attend as required will result in the child’s communion preparation being deferred to the following year. The Mass of commissioning of Catechists and parents/guardians will take place on Saturday, October 12th, at 6 p.m. All children are also expected to attend this Mass. We shall be strict about attendance and withdraw children whose parents do not commit to bringing them to the scheduled activities.
